I did start this blog before I arrived in Calgary about 9-10 years ago.  But that is when I started using it in earnest!  I'm in the Niagara Region and I'll try and add as I go but my blogroll will cover stuff as we see/do it  Marty's Road Trip Blog

Calgary

This is by no means a comprehensive list of all things Calgary and Southern Alberta. They are just some places that I like for various reasons.

Restaurants:

1410 Bierhaus (on 17th Ave SW near 14th.) Go for the beer, stay for the food. The food is marvelous. They actually have a few restaurants - this is the closest for me thus the one I go to.

Hiking:

Elbow Falls: There are number of good hikes right around this area. Long and short. We are in the southwest of Calgary so this is a quick run.
Grotto Canyon: (Near Exshaw) - this is a nice easy hike and closer to Calgary than many. Waterfall and Hoodoo. See my blog post for directions and photos.
Outdoor stuff:
Outdoor Center: This is an incredible resource if you need rentals - snow shoes, skis, etc. Lots of great outdoor info as well. Run by the University of Calgary
Bicycle Repair: For now in Kensington. A great DIY bike shop.
